Founded in 1876, the Paisley Art Institute holds its meetings and exhibitions in the Paisley Art Galleries which were built by the Coats family for the Institute.

The Paisley Museum and Art Galleries building is opposite the University of Paisley in High Street, Paisley. It is less than ten minutes walk from Paisley Gilmour Street railway station and about fifteen minutes drive from Glasgow Airport.
