During the Annual exhibition we run a School's Art competition.
PAISLEY ART INSTITUTE
SCHOOL'S ART COMPETITION 2008
Saturday 3 rd May to Friday 23rd May
There are two groups for entrants to the competition.
Group 1a for ages 7 10
Group 1b for ages 11 13
Group 1c for ages 14 16
Group 2 for ages 5 6
Assignment for all of Group 1
This year's guest artist is Alan Davie. Using a piece of A2 or A3 paper and
medium or media of your choice, produce a drawing or painting inspired by
the work of Alan Davie. The subject of your work is to be Œ Symbols and
Superstitions. You may use lettering, words, symbols, colour and shapes
and patterns in your composition. Looking at the artwork of Native American
tribes may also inspire your ideas.
You may create your work at Paisley Museum, at home or at school. Entrants
in this group should find their own materials, but anyone having difficulty
with this see contact below.
Look at the two paintings by Alan Davie in the Paisley Art Institute 2008
exhibition called Opus No. 01674 and Opus No. 01791. On the back of your
entry, write the title of the one you like best and say why you like this
painting.
Assignment for Group 2
Using the whole area of a piece of A3 size paper, produce a drawing that
includes two of the pieces of sculpture in this year's Paisley Art Institute
exhibition in Paisley Museum.
You should create your drawing at Paisley Museum. Paper and drawing
materials will be available in Paisley Museum.
Group 1 and Group 2
On the top right corner of the back of your work mark clearly your name, age
and school.
All work to be handed in to Paisley Museum by Friday 23rd. May 2008
Judging of work will take place Saturday 24th May.
Notification of prizewinners will go to the schools.
Presentation of prizes in Paisley Museum and Art Galleries at 10.15am on
Saturday 31st May
