All members are entitled to free admission to exhibitions, meetings and other activities organised by the Institute, to vote at the Annual General Meetings and to be elected to the Committee of Management. Artist members are entitled to send, at present, 3 works to annual exhibitions of the Institute and 2 drawings to the Scottish Drawing Competition.

Candidates for Artist Membership are required to submit 3 representative works for consideration by the Committee of Management. These are normally assessed on the day of the AGM. Works are acceptable in any medium but candidates should choose media and subjects that best display the diversity of their talent. Their presentation should be appropriate to a large public exhibition. Election is by majority vote of the Selection Committee.

Application forms may be obtained from the PAI Secretary Michael Clark, 4 Mount Charles House, 36 Mount Charles Crescent, Alloway KA7 4NY.

The annual subscription for Artist Members is £20 and Lay Members £10. Fees should be paid on election and thereafter at the time of the Annual General Meeting, which is usually in October. Life Membership is available on payment of £200 to the funds of the Institute. Corporate Membership is available at the same cost.

The Diploma of Artist Membership of the Paisley Art Institute, which abbreviates to PAI, is awarded by the Institute on the recommendation of the Credentials Committee whose members are themselves holders of the diploma. An Honorary Diploma, the HPAI, can also be awarded to lay members and others on the Committee's recommendation.
